About Us

YTScript is a free web tool that turns YouTube videos into readable text.

What we do

Paste a link and you get the transcript, with timestamps, in whichever format you need. No account, no install, no fee.

How it works

The tool reads the caption track published with the video, rejoins the fragments into readable paragraphs, and offers the result as TXT, SRT or VTT.

YTScript is a small set of tools for getting text out of video and audio. There is no account system, no dashboard, and no subscription — you arrive with a link or a file, you leave with the text, and nothing about you is retained in between.

It exists because the alternative is worse. Most people who need a transcript need it once, for one video, and paying for a transcription service or installing software to get it is a poor trade. Reading the captions a video already has is the cheap path, and that is what most of these tools do.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. Everything works anonymously.
How is it free?
The transcript tools read captions the video already has, which is cheap to do, and the pages carry advertising. The file converters run in your browser and cost nothing to serve.
Do you store my transcripts?
No. A transcript is fetched when you ask for it and handed to your browser. There is no library of what you have looked up.
What happens to files I upload?
Audio and video files are sent to a speech-to-text provider for recognition and are not retained here. The subtitle converters never upload anything — they run entirely in your browser.
How do I report a problem or ask something?
Use the contact page. Reports about a specific video failing are most useful when they include the link.
