Audio Transcriber

Upload an audio or video file and get the text back. Files are forwarded to the configured speech-to-text provider and never stored.

File transcription is not switched on yet, so you cannot upload a file here for now. Transcripts from YouTube videos work today and need no file.

This page transcribes audio into text. It is the same capability as the other audio pages, presented as the tool it is: a transcriber you point at a file.

Upload the recording and read the result. For anything longer than a few minutes, the transcript is the faster way to work with the content — you can search it, quote it, and skim it in a way you cannot skim audio.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between transcribing and translating?
Transcribing writes down what was said in the language it was said in. Translating renders it in another language. This page transcribes.
Can it handle long recordings?
It can, though duration limits are set by the speech-to-text provider and long files take proportionally longer. Splitting an hours-long recording into parts is usually more reliable.
Does it work with video files?
The video tools on this site handle those — they extract the audio track and transcribe it. Upload video there rather than here.
How do I get the best accuracy?
Record close to the speaker, avoid overlapping speech, and reduce background noise. Those three factors matter more than anything else.
Is the recording stored?
No. It is processed for recognition and not retained by this site.
