Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how YTScript ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares information when you use https://ytscript.app (the "Site"). YTScript operates the Site and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy (the "data controller"). If you have questions, contact us at contact@ytscript.app.

Summary

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you provide

We do not require registration and we do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data. Please do not include sensitive personal information in tool inputs or messages.

1.2 Information collected automatically

1.3 Information processed only in your browser

The subtitle tools (for example SRT to VTT, SRT to TXT, SRT to ASS, LRC to SRT, Open SRT File) and the video splitter run entirely in your browser. Files you open in these tools are not uploaded to our servers.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

3. Video content and transcripts

Transcripts are built from captions that the video owner or YouTube has made publicly available. We do not download or store the video itself. Cached transcripts are tied to the video, not to you, and are kept for up to 7 days before they expire. We do not keep a history of which videos an individual visitor has looked up.

Summaries. Summaries are generated from the transcript. Where an AI provider is enabled, the transcript text is sent to a third-party AI model provider to produce the summary, under that provider's terms. Otherwise the summary is generated on our own server. We do not send your IP address or other identifiers to the AI provider as part of the request content.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use:

You can change your choices at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer or by deleting cookies in your browser settings. Refusing non-essential cookies does not limit any of the tools.

4.1 Advertising and Google

We use Google AdSense to show ads. In connection with this:

If you opt out of personalised ads, you may still see non-personalised ads.

4.2 Consent

Where the law requires consent (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), we use a consent management platform to ask for your permission before setting analytics or advertising cookies, and we pass your choice to Google and other vendors.

5. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Swiss users)

We process personal data on the following legal bases:

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with:

7. Data retention

8. International transfers

Our providers operate globally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

9. Your rights

9.1 EEA, UK and Swiss users

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9.2 California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used and disclosed; to request deletion or correction; to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising; to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect it); and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. The categories we may collect are identifiers (such as IP address), internet activity (such as pages viewed) and inferences used for advertising. You can opt out of sharing for personalised advertising through the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer, and we honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where supported.

9.3 How to make a request

Email contact@ytscript.app with the subject "Privacy request" and describe what you would like us to do. Because we do not have accounts, we may ask for information that helps us locate the data concerned (for example the approximate time and IP address of your visit). We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

10. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

12. Third-party links

The Site links to and embeds content from third parties such as YouTube. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, for example the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the effective date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice on the Site.

14. Contact

Questions or requests about this policy: contact@ytscript.app.

This page describes what this site actually does with data, which is less than most: there is no account to hold your details, no transcript library, and no profile built over time. The sections below cover each kind of data the site can come into contact with and what happens to it.

Where a tool needs to send something to a third party — audio for recognition — that is stated plainly rather than buried, because it is the one case where what you provide leaves your machine.

Frequently asked questions

Do you keep the transcripts I generate?
No. A transcript is fetched from the video's captions and returned to your browser, and nothing ties a lookup to you — there is no history of what you have viewed. A copy is cached so that a repeat request does not mean a second fetch, and that copy expires within 7 days; see Data retention above.
Do you need an account or personal details?
No. There is no registration, so no name, email, or password is collected. The address shown on this page is the only way to reach us, and only if you choose to write.
Are the subtitle converters private?
Yes — they run entirely in your browser. The file you open is read by JavaScript on your own machine and is never transmitted, which also means they work offline once the page has loaded.
What happens when I upload audio or video?
The file is sent to the speech-to-text provider configured for the site so the audio can be recognised. It is not retained here. If your recording is confidential, check that you are comfortable with that provider before uploading.
What do you use cookies for?
Advertising and, where enabled, analytics — and only after you have consented where consent is required. The no-ads preference is stored in your browser so the site remembers your choice.
How do I opt out of ads or tracking?
The consent prompt lets you refuse non-essential cookies, and there is a no-ads option that is remembered in your browser. Declining does not restrict any of the tools.
