Video Transcript Generator
Upload an audio or video file and get the text back. Files are forwarded to the configured speech-to-text provider and never stored.
File transcription is not switched on yet, so you cannot upload a file here for now. Transcripts from YouTube videos work today and need no file.
This generates a transcript from a video file: upload it and the spoken content comes back as text. It is the same recognition path as the other video tools, framed as what it produces — a transcript.
The output is a readable document you can copy, search, and edit. For anything you will refer back to, that beats scrubbing through the video.
Frequently asked questions
- How is a transcript generated from a video?
- The audio track is extracted and passed to speech recognition, which returns text with timings where available. The video itself is not read or stored.
- Can I generate a transcript for a YouTube link?
- Use the YouTube pages for links — they read the captions the video already has and are much faster. This page is for files.
- Will it produce subtitles as well?
- The transcript carries timings where the provider returns them, which is what subtitles are built from. Generating the subtitle file itself is a separate step.
- How long does it take?
- Proportional to the recording length, since the audio has to be recognised rather than looked up.
- Is the video kept?
- No. It is processed for recognition and not retained by this site.
